Lessons in localization: Upcoming October events
Trying to find the most efficient way to get your online presence and products out there in the right languages?
Globalization industry events are excellent for learning best practices and discovering the latest and greatest product and service offerings. Dive into this learning next month, when two of the industry’s main US events take place:
TAUS Annual Conference
October 14–15, 2013 |Portland, OR, USA
The Translation Automation User Society (TAUS) forum is wonderful for discussing and debating globalization technology trends, and the group has been hugely influential in setting overall industry direction. The central theme of this year’s conference is “translation as a utility” and Gengo CTO Matt Romaine will be speaking about using metrics-driven crowdsourced translation to drive down costs.
Localization World
October 9–11, 2013 | Santa Clara, CA, USA
Localization World (“LocWorld”) is the grand annual marketplace of GILT (Globalization, Internationalization, Localization and Translation) products and services. There are many booths, sessions and meetings on offer at this exciting forum. Matt will be presenting again, this time on how to use massively scalable localization to achieve business results.
Other places to see Gengo:
- October 2: If you can’t make it out to Oregon, tune into TAUS’ free translation technology showcase webinar for a comprehensive introduction to Gengo’s API ecosystem. Don’t forget to sign up in advance.
- October 2-3: Matt will be attending API World in San Francisco to get a pulse on the latest trends relevant to the translation industry. Find him and say hi!
- October 4: At the Monterey Institute of International Studies Career Focus Day, Gengo’s Translator Community Manager Natalia and I will be talking to students about careers in freelance translation.
- October 23-25: API Strategy & Practice is another San Francisco-based opportunity to knowledge-share with API enthusiasts. Matt will be there.
- October 30: I’m representing Gengo on a Women in Localization panel in the San Francisco Bay Area (location being finalized) about successfully combining crowdsourcing with LSP solutions.
It’s going to be a busy month! If you plan to attend any of these events, please feel free to contact me or Matt on LinkedIn. We’d love to meet up with you.
