Countdown to Going Global #9: Check, double check, launch
Congratulations! All of your hard work is almost ready for launch. Tip #9 is a reminder to pause and do a thorough final pass of all of your brand new multilingual content and web pages. Here’s how:
- As with any other page launch for the web, check and double-check how pages render across browsers and devices, both across your new languages and source language—even if you didn’t edit anything on your original pages, changing the underlying structure of your site with localization plugins or integrated platforms can impact everything, not just new pages
- Do a final pass with translators to review the entire final product in context
- Address any functional problems, ensuring all buttons and links lead to same-language pages and content and there aren’t broken links or missing content
- Make sure all of your marketing/communications are in order for launch, including any email messages, blogs, etc.
Depending on how much content you have and how many hands you have on deck sifting through pages, recording and making fixes, this process can take anywhere from days to months. The more careful your initial work was, the faster the quality assurance (QA) phase will go, but once you’ve checked for linguistic and functional accuracy, you’re ready to go!
