What is a Gengo Wordsmith?

In our ongoing effort to recognize our translators and the skilled work that they do, each month we applaud our hotshot translators who have translated more than 500,000 units during their time as a Gengo translator.

Those who achieve this impressive feat are rewarded with the title of Gengo Wordsmith and receive a special prize.

To put this accomplishment into perspective, a typical active Gengo translator translates about 38,000 words over their translator lifetime with us at a standard speed of 250 words (300 characters) per hour. To reach 500,000 units, a Wordsmith has to spend a total of around 2,000 hours, or 83 days, translating. The translated text would cover over 1,200 pages in 10-point font—about the same as the Lord of the Rings trilogy!

All our translators are dedicated to providing quality translations within a very swift turnaround time, but our Wordsmiths deserve a special pat on the back for their work.

Keep translating to become one of our esteemed Wordsmiths!
