A strong finish to 2016!
DECEMBER 2016 – We finished 2016 on a strong note, translating 21.3M units. That makes December the third month in a row when our community has translated over 20M units – a first for Gengo! This is especially impressive as we usually see a drop in translator availability towards the end of December, so kudos to those who spent some of their holidays working hard!
Volume in top 10 language pairs
The Japanese to English community led in volume, translating 2.5M units in December. English to French and Dutch to British English both had large volumes as well, translating just over and just under 2M units, respectively. As expected, most language pairs dipped in volume in December as customers ramped down for the holidays. We expect to see volume back up in January!
Pickup time
Pickup times continue to improve, meaning translator availability is healthy. In December, 95% of jobs were started by a translator within 82 minutes of being ordered. In comparison, pickup time in November was 107 minutes.
Quality score
In December, we saw our average quality score drop from 9.14 out of 10 down to 9.06. Let’s start the new year off on the right foot and get quality back up! If you haven’t already, check out the quality blog we published in November, The three-step translation process. And as always, if you have any questions about Gengo’s quality expectations, feel free to post in the Translator Forums.
Happy translating this 2017!
