A harder working workbench

The workbench is the heart of Gengo where translation happens 24/7. Late last year we introduced a brand new translator workbench that brought together everything we’ve learned in a streamlined interface designed to provide assistance when wanted, but otherwise gets out of the way.

We’ve just released a big update based on translators’ feedback, focused on further refining the workflow and improving the experience on mobile devices.

Key changes

  • Seamless navigation—site navigation and display controls have been split into two separate menus that contract/expand as the page scrolls to provide a cleaner view.
  • Improved directions—the most important information is now shown at the top of the page alongside style guide instructions from customers.
  • Cleaner commenting—the left panel is now used purely for communicating with customers and other translators. Issues can be raised directly by clicking the flag icon.
  • Better mobile experience—we’ve improved the responsive layout of the workbench so translating while on a tablet or smartphone is now far smoother.

As always, feel free to send us your feedback and keep an eye out for further changes.
